Verse of the day for
11/18/2008
Isaiah 11:3-4 -- He will not judge by what he sees with his eyes, or decide by what he hears with his ears; but with righteousness he will judge the needy, with justice he will give decisions for the poor of the earth. (NIV)
Fair judgment requires eyes that see past first glances. Only God can know what is just in every situation. How have you judged this week? How have you been wrong in your judgments?
Our Bible Mission

Thrift Centers help place Scriptures around the world.Bibles for Missions Thrift Centers, through the efforts of hundreds of dedicated volunteers, fund the Bible League mission to place Scriptures around the world.

Thrift Centers fund thousands of Scriptures every day they are open!

How? Donated items are accepted at each store and placed on the sales floor. After expenses, the funds raised are used by the Bible League to place $1.50 New Testaments or $4.00 Bibles in countries chosen by each Thrift Center.

Results: Through the efforts of hundreds of volunteers in Bibles for Missions Thrift Centers, millions of Scriptures have been placed worldwide.

God’s Word in action

Over the years, Bible League has published and placed Scriptures in more than 450 languages in countries from the Arctic to the jungles of Africa and the Amazon. As of 2006, Bible League has provided more than 712 million Scriptures worldwide, and currently works in more than 60 countries, with ministries in areas of the world where the Bible is still a forbidden book.

Rather than randomly distributing Bibles, however, Bible League strategically places Scriptures through small group Bible studies. This way, instead of gathering dust, Bibles are used to deepen the faith of Christians and, by God’s grace, to help non-Christians believe in Christ. In studying the Bible together, small groups learn about sharing their faith, and discipleship—how to live and grow as a Christian—according to God’s Word. They also learn to support, guide, and encourage each other in their faith.

That is the Bible League strategy: to promote evangelism and discipleship through Bible study, and provide the Scriptures to make it happen—all around the world.

Highland, Indiana to Colombia, South America
Recently the Latin America National Directors of the Bible League visited the Highland, IN Thrift Center. They had a chance to express their appreciation to the volunteers who supply Scriptures for their ministries. Pierre, one of the directors, said, “You are all touching so many lives—you cannot imagine how many.”

Luis, director of the work in Colombia, had a special connection to the Center. Highland’s net proceeds supply Scriptures to his work in Colombia. “We pray for you every day,” said Luis. “We cannot thank you enough.”
